The Role
Avatar Medical is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Territory Manager to join our growing team. This role is responsible for driving revenue generation across the Eastern United States through two key focus areas: hunting (prospecting and acquiring new business) and farming (expanding and developing existing accounts). The Territory Manager will target high-volume surgeons within large health systems, academic institutions, private practices, VA/Department of Defense accounts, and closed systems such as Kaiser Permanente. This position requires a strategic approach to engaging Brain and Spine Neurosurgeons, ENT Surgeons, and Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, delivering compelling software demonstrations, and facilitating pilot programs to secure SaaS license sales within their assigned accounts. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a proven track record in medical sales, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to meet or exceed quarterly revenue quotas.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Business Development (Hunting):
- Identify and prospect high-potential surgeons within large health systems, academic practices, private practices, VA/DoD facilities, and closed systems (e.g., Kaiser Permanente) across the Eastern U.S.
- Target Brain and Spine Neurosurgeons, ENT Surgeons, and Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons with busy clinical practices, securing initial interest through outreach and relationship-building.
- Conduct live demonstrations of Avatar Medical Vision software to showcase its value in patient experience, surgical planning, tumor board, and intraoperative visualization.
- Coordinate and manage pilot programs within surgeon practices to collect critical data, including patient satisfaction surveys while documenting % reductions in patient outmigration compared to prior state (without Avatar Medical Vision).
- Leverage pilot data to drive the adoption and purchase of SaaS licenses in pursuit of Clinic of the Future featuring autostereoscopic screens.
- Attend medical meetings, conferences, and industry events to generate new leads and build a robust pipeline of prospective clients.
2. Existing Account Development (Farming):
- Expand relationships within existing accounts by prospecting surgeons from both current and new departments/surgical disciplines.
- Deliver tailored software demonstrations to highlight the benefits of Avatar Medical Vision for additional use cases within the account.
- Utilize data from prior pilots to upsell additional SaaS licenses and Clinic of the Future solutions, ensuring maximum penetration within the account.
- Collaborate with account stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth and address evolving clinical needs.
3. Performance and Travel Expectations:
- Meet or exceed quarterly revenue quotas through a combination of new business wins and account expansion.
- Benefit from a 3-month initial guarantee period to ramp up prospecting efforts and build a sustainable pipeline.
- Travel extensively within the assigned Eastern U.S. territory, with overnight stays as required to meet with prospects, attend demonstrations, and participate in industry
events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical device, MedTech, or SaaS sales, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding quotas.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, including large health systems, academic institutions, VA/DoD accounts, and closed systems like Kaiser Permanente.
- Experience selling to surgeons (e.g., Neurosurgeons, ENT, Craniomaxillofacial) or other high-level clinical stakeholders is highly desirable.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a hunter mentality and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50-75% of the time) within the Eastern U.S. territory.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of surgical workflows and the role of technology in improving patient outcomes.
